How would you feel if you one day woke up flat on your back in a small European city with tourists and locals alike staring back at you?
To you or I this might be a thoroughly shocking (not to mention confusing!) situation to be in, but for the Big Yellow Rabbit this is just another day in downtown Oreboro, Sweden…
This 43 foot high piece of hop art was created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman for the summer OpenArt festival, an outdoor exhibition in Oreboro that encourages artists to temporarily change the landscape of the city. Hofman’s sunny bunny was made by more then 25 local craftsmen using local materials, and cost about $20,000 to create.
Orenboro-ers have mixed opinions about their city’s new centerpiece. Some appreciate the child-like absurdity of the piece, others find it to be an expensive nuisance. While we’re always up for a bit of bun fun, we’d also love to hear your opinion. What do you think about this gargantuan cuddle toy? Let us know in the comments!
